Day 8: Visit Mangrove & Ras bir
Godoria is considered the most beautiful mangrove in Djibouti. This labyrinth of canals and mangrove roots is a teeming oasis where dozens of animal and plant species coexist, while a few kilometers away there is desolation. It is easier to access this area by sea, as part of an excursion from Djibouti, Obock or Sables Blancs. The track that connects the N15 to this region is quite bad. The discovery, near Godoria, of a 2,000-year-old cistern suggests that the Romans themselves frequented this region
Day 9: Drive back to Tadjaurah & Visit sable Blanc and drive to Djibouti
After a visit to Moucha Island, dominated by a resort but with some good diving, it became clear that, especially out of school holiday periods, it would not be easy to reach any beach destination in Djibouti. We decided to travel to Tadjaurah and hop over to Sable Blanc from there – even which was only possible during the Muslim weekend. But when the small boat from Tadjaurah finally approached Sable Blanc before sunset, we realized how beautiful it was.
